Sting Sells Out More Shows Than SexyBack

The Police tour grossed more than Justin Timberlake's FutureSex LoveShow in '07.

Dec. 14, 2007 — -- When it came to selling out stadiums this year, Sting trumped SexyBack.

According to Billboard Boxscore, the Police reunion tour made more money than Justin Timberlake's FutureSex LoveShow tour and all other concerts in 2007, grossing more than $212 million and selling close to 2 million tickets.

The Police sold out stadiums all over the world this year.

Another '80s band, Genesis, also left Timberlake in the dust. According to Billboard, their Turn It on Again tour's 46 shows grossed $129 million.

Genesis revived their fans with a U.S./Europe tour.

Timberlake's tour came in third on Billboard's list, taking in $126.8 million and playing host to more than 1.6 million people worldwide.

Justin Timberlake's FutureSex LoveShow captivated crowds and earned its own HBO special.

Pop stars, country crooners and stars that defy categorization rounded out Billboard's top ten highest grossing tours of 2007:

Kenny Chesney ($71.2 million)

Country star Kenny Chesney came in at No. 4 on Billboard's list.

Rod Stewart ($70 million)

Rock legend Rod Stewart notched No. 5.

Cirque Du Soleil's Delirium ($59.4 million)

The acrobats of Cirque Du Soleil flipped, dipped and twisted their way to No. 6.

Roger Waters ($53.2 million)

Roger Waters came in at No. 7 on Billboard's list.

Tim McGraw/Faith Hill ($52.3 million)

Power country couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill captivated crowds.

Christina Aguilera ($48.1 million)

New mom-to-be Christina Aguilera wowed audiences in '07.

Rascal Flatts ($41.6 million)

Country/pop crossover Rascal Flatts rounds out the list at No. 10.
