Reunited: Jesse James and Kat Von D Together Again and Engaged

"I will never stop fighting and striving to hold on to her," James told People.

Aug. 18, 2011 — -- intro: Perhaps it was meant to be after all -- reality television stars Jesse James and Kat Von D are back together after they broke off their engagement earlier this summer.

James, 42, and the "LA Ink" star, 29 are back together and are engaged again, James told People magazine.

"Sometimes you are only given one chance in life," James told People. "It was up to me to open my eyes and see it. That girl is my chance. I will never stop fighting and striving to hold on to her. Showing her how special she is, and how much I love her."

James tweeted "para siempre" (or "forever" in Spanish) along with a photo of the two of them together embracing.

Last month, the couple called off their engagement despite their love for each other.

"I'm so sad, because I really love her," James told People in July. "The distance between us was just too much."

James and Von D got engaged in January and had been planning a summer wedding around the one-year anniversary of their first date, which was just days after James' divorce from Sandra Bullock.

But the commute between Los Angeles, where Von D shoots her reality show, and James' home outside Austin, Texas, where he lives with his three children, was just too great.

However, TLC canceled Von D's show, "LA Ink," today after four seasons, network officials said in a statement.

Von D had a different take on the situation.

"In an effort to capitalize on my recent breakup, the network has decided to focus their energy on re-editing events that didn't happen while filming," Von D told People.

"Regardless of everything I remain grateful,"she tweeted.

The couple's reconciliation comes after a difficult year for Von D.

Before they got back together, when it came time for her to promote the new season of "Ink," Von D split before a television interview with "Good Day LA" rather than face questions about James.

Then, in a long, rambling Facebook note, Von D, whose full name is Katherine Von Drachenberg, apologized not for walking out on a "silly morning show interview" but for having a moment of weakness.

"Never planned on walking away from this relationship, let alone the timing of things," Von D wrote. "And as much as I'd like to picture me being this strong, independent woman, the truth is most of the time I'm not as strong as I'd like to be -- but I'm still trying."

While James and Von D are back on, James' trouble with women isn't over.

Janine Lindemulder, James' second wife, was arrested in July on a harassment warrant after reportedly calling James 25 times after he was awarded full custody of their daughter, Sunny.

James has had much travail in his love life. Here's a look back at the women he's left behind, at one time or another:

Last August, the reality star first tweeted -- then deleted -- that she was seeing the motorcycle mogul.

"Yes, Jesse and I are dating," she wrote before taking down the post -- but not before the message had spread throughout the blogosphere.

Within months, they were announcing their engagement.

"I have never met anyone so kind and loving and committed to making the world a better place every day. My love for her is beyond description. So honored that she said 'yes.' Growing old with her is going to be a f**kin' blast!" he told People.

"There is no one else for me. He's the one," the "LA Ink" star told the magazine.

When asked if she would move from Los Angeles to Austin to be with her fiance, Von D gave a prescient answer.

"If only it were that easy," she told People. "Having two places we call home will be good for now. In the end, home is where the heart is, and my heart's with him."

Now, it seems their love is back on.

She was "Miss Congeniality," a popular, well-paid Hollywood actress. He was a reformed bad boy turned successful businessman and reality TV star.

But Sandra Bullock and Jesse James seemed to prove naysayers wrong, finding domestic bliss in Los Angeles and Austin, Texas, while raising his three children from his two previous marriages -- that is, until she won the Oscar and reports of his infidelity became tabloid fodder.

Bullock took off and became a single mom to Louie, the baby they were in the process of adopting, and within a year she had moved full-time to Austin and obtained a divorce from James.

James told ABC's "Nightline" that he doesn't speak to Bullock, even though they both live in Austin, nor has he seen Louie.

As the world now knows, McGee, a San Diego tattoo model, is the woman who brought down James' marriage to Bullock.

A fetish model and sometime stripper, McGee told In Touch Weekly that she began an 11-month affair with James while Bullock was filming the "The Blind Side."

Raised Amish, she told In Touch that she thought James was separated from Bullock or else she never would have had an affair with him.

James met and married tattooed porn star Janine Lindemulder -- also known for her association with the punk band Blink 182 -- in 2002, when the Discovery Channel made him into a star with "Monster Garage."

Their volatile relationship was recorded on the Discovery network special "Motorcycle Mania 3." After a year, they divorced. According to Lindemulder's attorney, James left her when she was seven months pregnant with their daughter Sunny.

While Lindemulder served time in federal prison for tax evasion, James and Bullock took care of Sunny. He was recently awarded full custody of their 8-year-old daughter. She lives with James and his two sons by his first marriage, Chandler, 16, and Jesse Jr., 14, outside Austin.
