Joel Siegel's Memorial Day Movie Tips

May 26, 2006 — -- What movie will have you running to the theater this holiday weekend? While "X-Men: The Last Stand" is the latest summer movie to premiere, there are several excellent films I can recommend.

"Over the Hedge" is deliciously funny and good animation. Parents and kids will laugh hard. And what I like most: It's a family film about family. (Grade: B)

"Mission: Impossible III" -- a box-office disappointment -- earned very good reviews, even from me. As flat-out action, it's more fun than you think. Tom's pretty good, too. (Grade: B+, Full Review)

"Akeelah and the Bee" is another exquisite family film. And if you haven't seen it, "Ice Age: The Meltdown" is still playing, still funny. (Grade: B+, Full Review)

Denzel Washington's "Inside Man" is the best of the thrillers out there. (Grade: B+)

And if you want to do something difficult but proper this Memorial Day, "United 93" is difficult to watch but the best film out there. (Grade: A-, Full Review)
