Wilson Phillips released their debut album Wilson Phillips in 1990 and their debut single "Hold On" hit number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart bumping Madonna's "Vogue" off the top spot. The single was also number one on the U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and became a worldwide hit, winning the 1990 Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year. Wilson Phillips were also nominated for four Grammy awards the same year. Their second album, Shadows and Light, peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. In 2006, Carnie launched a solo career with an album of lullabies, A Mother's Gift: Lullabies From the Heart after the birth of her daughter Lola. Suffering from a lifelong battle with morbid obesity, Carnie chose not to hide it like some celebrities might but instead turned her struggle into a vehicle to inspire others. Her gastric bypass surgery, cybercast in 1999, drew more than 2.5 million hits and attracted worldwide media attention. Since then, Carnie has spoken extensively about morbid obesity and regularly contributes her message to Lite And Hope's official web site and via her online Carnie Wilson Obesity Support Group.
