Gaga, Rihanna, Mariah and More: What's Doing With the Divas?

Britney Spears is stirring up speculation this summer.

June 14, 2010 — -- As the temperature rises, the divas get weirder.

They're flipping up their middle fingers. They're acting out of whack. They're donning geometric lingerie from the '90s.

Below, check out what's happening with the most intriguing female singing stars of the moment -- music's top five mysterious mavens.

Lady Gaga

Oh, Lady Gaga. First, she said she liked those hermaphrodite rumors. Then she told Larry King that she maybe/possibly had lupus. Then she reportedly had the backstage area of London's O2 arena searched for ghosts. Now she's flipping off baseball fans.

Gaga hit Thursday's Mets game wearing the studded bikini from her "Telephone" video and a leather jacket. She seemed appalled when all eyes turned to her seat behind home plate. Gaga then moved on up to a luxury box and proceeded to shoot her middle finger at the crowd. (Hint, Gaga, next time, just wear a baseball cap and a jersey like everyone else.)

Here's hoping Gaga pops up at more major sporting events this summer. She'd fit right in with the face-painted World Cup fanatics, and at buttoned-up Wimbledon she'd make Venus Williams' lace and spandex outfit look like a nun's habit. Game, set, match.

Rihanna

Another season, another look for Rihanna. The pop star debuted a fiery red pixie cut earlier this month, along with a Madonna-circa-1990 cone bra. But, apparently, her schizophrenic sense of style -- she's gone from black to blond to red in the course of a couple of months -- has nothing to do with what's going on inside.

In the July issue of Elle, Rihanna revealed that she's settled and sane with her new boyfriend, Los Angeles Dodgers player Matt Kemp. "I'm so happy," she said. "I feel really comfortable, and it's so easy. I have such a chaotic life, but at the end of the day, that is just my peace. It keeps me sane, really, talking to him and talking to my family."

Mariah Carey

Is she or isn't she? Mariah Carey and her husband, Nick Cannon, have been keeping coy about whether or not she's pregnant. She fueled rumors when she abruptly dropped out of Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf" late last month. He toyed with the speculation when he told E! that a female close to his heart was pregnant -- his Jack Russell terrier.

Indeed, the couple welcomed a new addition to the family last week. "ChaCha just had her baby! Its a giiirl!!!" Carey tweeted on June 7. "Anybody want a beautiful Jack Russell puppy?! Jk: )" As for her own status, the songstress offered no update, though she did show off more curves than usual while performing for Walmart shareholders in Arkansas June 4.

Whitney Houston

Woe is Whitney Houston.

Or at least, woe is Whitney Houston's fans, who keep leaving her shows unsatisfied. According to the Copenhagen Post, more than a hundred concert-goers walked out of the Denmark installment of her "Nothing but Love" tour earlier this month when her voice, once again, croaked and cracked. And it's not just her instrument that's out of whack. Houston looked bloated throughout her stint in Scandinavia, causing some to wonder if the 46-year-old singer is pregnant or, perhaps, going through menopause.

Britney Spears

America's former pop princess has been keeping a low profile of late. But the people around her? Not so much. Ex-police officer Fernando Flores reportedly quit his job as a member of Spears' security team after she attempted to seduce him.

Meanwhile, her ex-manager and mother are battling about who brought down her career. Sam Lutfi is suing Lynne Spears for defamation because in her memoir, "Through the Storm," she claimed he secretly drugged her daughter and cut off her communications. While Lynne Spears tried to have the lawsuit dismissed the first time around, it went back to a California appeals court June 10.
