Has Britney Spears Finally Found a Good Guy?
After string of bad beaus, Spears seems to have settled down with her agent.
June 11, 2009 -- Britney Spears finally may have bagged herself a good guy.
The scandal-scarred pop star, revving up her music career again after spending two years as a tabloid target and late-night punch line, reportedly is dating her agent, Jason Trawick.
"They've been staying together at the Dorchester hotel in London," British celebrity gossip guru Neil Sean told ABCNews.com. "The bottom line is that she's now looking to him for advice on everything -- business and beyond. She's always with him. He's a really nice guy, very warm, very calm."
Not only has Trawick won over Spears, he's also gotten into her family's good graces.
"He takes the kids out to get ice cream; they're very chummy with him," Sean said. "He gets on very well with Britney's brother."
Neither Trawick nor representatives for Spears returned calls and e-mails for comment Wednesday. But according to E! Online, the William Morris agent has been traveling with Spears on her Circus tour on and off since March.
Trawick, 37, has represented Spears, 27, for about five years. He also serves as an agent to Hilary Duff, Taylor Swift and Paris Hilton.
It seems that his relationship with Spears evolved from strictly business to something more months ago. On March 1, paparazzi spotted Trawick in Louisiana riding a golf cart with Spears and her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
In May 2008, Trawick flew down to Costa Rica with Spears and Mel Gibson for a getaway at the actor's tropical mansion. Photographers snapped pictures of Trawick and Spears frolicking in the ocean and cruising on ATVs.
Now, according to Sean, Trawick is trying to expand Spears' career beyond the realm of pop music. He helped her nab two guest appearances on "How I Met Your Mother" last year and hopes to push her further into acting.
"Jason's trying to set up meetings with film studios while in London," Sean said. "She's bored to death of being Britney Spears, pop star, and she'd like to be Britney Spears, entertainer."
Trawick a Step Up From Spears' Past Loves
Most importantly, Trawick's scored the approval of Spears' dad and conservator, Jamie Spears.
"Her dad loves him," an unnamed source told People magazine. "[Trawick's] the best thing that happened to her."
Indeed -- in comparison to Spears' past love interests, Trawick's a veritable knight in shining armor.
Before him, there was Adnan Ghalib, the paparazzo who went from snapping to bedding Spears in 2007. While her child custody battle continued in a Los Angeles court, she tooled around town with Ghalib, going on shopping sprees instead of showing up to hearings.
Ghalib seemed far from grateful to be dating the pop superstar. In January 2008, he told "The Insider" and "Entertainment Tonight" that Spears bought a pregnancy test "hoping" she was pregnant with his child. Spears' dad put the kibosh on their relationship shortly after, scoring a temporary restraining order prohibiting Ghalib from contacting Spears. In March, a judge ordered the paparazzo to stay away from the pop star for three years.
Perhaps Spears' most significant relationship was with someone who also worked with her in the trenches of showbiz -- Kevin Federline, the backup-dancer-turned-boyfriend who tied the knot with Spears in September 2004. Their marriage produced sons Sean Preston, Jayden James and a short-lived reality show whose title pretty much summed up their relationship: "Britney & Kevin: Chaotic."
Spears filed for divorce from Federline in November 2006, initiating a two-year-long court battle over their children. She eventually bowed out of the fight, granting him full custody and the title of 2007's father of the year, as determined by Details magazine. (Apparently, next to a mother who spontaneously shaved her head bald and went through multiple breakdowns and psychiatric evaluations, even K-Fed looked good.)
Not since her teen romance with Justin Timberlake has Spears been romantically linked to someone as promising as Trawick. Even one of her harshest critics, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, is hoping their relationship stays in bloom as more than just business.
"The good outweighs the bad in their relationship," he said. "A big minus is that by what he does, his job is to use her. But, at least he's employed. And her family approves."
