Actor Tristan Wilds Reflects on Starring in Adele's 'Hello' Music Video
Wilds told ABC News he was "definitely shocked" to get the call.
-- When Adele premiered the music video for "Hello," the first single from her latest album "25," many were surprised to see a familiar face as her love interest -- Tristan Wilds.
"The Wire" actor told ABC News that he couldn't believe his luck either.
"I definitely was shocked," he recalled. "It just was like, 'Man this is crazy.'"
Wilds explained that his friend, filmmaker Xavier Dolan, tapped him for the project. "He kept telling me he doesn't want to do a regular music video. He didn't even want it to be considered a music video. He wanted to shoot a film."
The actor said although he had never met Adele before filming, it was easy to portray her heartbroken lover.
"[I portrayed] someone going through heartbreak. It's love lost. That's easy to pull from. That's an emotion that we all go through," he explained.
Wilds couldn't help but gush about working with the British singer. "I was just in awe in how giving she was. She's genuine and just a really cool girl," he said. "She's real chill."
The 26-year-old actor said he was happy with how the black-and-white music video turned out. "But what do you expect? You get me, Xavier and Adele in a room and magic's going to happen," he said. "We did amazing work so the work speaks for itself."
Wilds' next project is a TV movie set in the 90s called "The Breaks" in which he portrays DeeVee, a young producer seemingly willing to do anything to create his own sound. The film reunites him with his "Wire" co-star, Wood Harris, and the HBO series' director, Seith Mann. It premieres Jan. 4.
