Adele Releases New Video for 'When We Were Young'
The singer's new album is set to drop Friday.
-- Adele on Tuesday morning released a performance video of her new song, “When We Were Young."
The video, the full title of which is “When We Were Young (Live at The Church),” begins with Adele, the musicians and backup singers chatting as they prepare for the performance, which begins nearly 45 seconds into the video. The mood is light and playful until the first piano chords sound, at which Adele turns somber and delivers another trademark powerhouse performance.
And it certainly seems to be a live performance, rather than lip-synced over an existing track, although there’s no way to know if this is the performance offered on Adele’s new album, "25." It ends with Adele going from somber to playful once more as she laughs and jokes, “I’ve never done that in my life.”
The video appears to be the same “exclusive performance” 60 Minutes Australia teased in its Monday’s promo, although that sample shows a bit more footage not shown in the performance video. As of this morning, the song does not appear to be available digitally at any of the usual outlets.
“When We Were Young” is the second single we’ve heard from Adele’s forthcoming third album, which hits retailers this Friday.
