AMA Hosts Gigi Hadid and Jay Pharoah Impersonate Melania and Donald Trump
Hadid and Pharoah hosted the awards show Sunday night.
-- The hosts of the 2016 American Music Awards, Gigi Hadid and Jay Pharoah, used their joint opening monologue to rib President-elect Donald Trump and incoming first lady Melania Trump.
Hadid tried to embody Melania Trump, saying that she had been working on the impression "all week." The supermodel puckered her lips, saying: "I gotta get the face right."
"I love my husband...," Hadid, 21, started in a thick accent.
She then deadpanned, "President Barack Obama and our children Sasha and Malia."
Hadid was perhaps referring to the fact that portions of Melania Trump's Republican National Convention speech, given back in July, bore striking similarities to first lady Michelle Obama's speech to the Democratic National Convention eight years ago.
Next up, comedian Pharoah, who is known for his spot-on impersonations, pretended to be Donald Trump.
The former "Saturday Night Live" star began talking about AMA performer Bruno Mars in Donald Trump's accent.
"I love 'Uptown Funk.' It was all totally about me," Pharaoh said. "It was originally called 'Uptown Trump.' I'm gonna funk this country up bigly."
You may have noticed that Donald Trump used the term "bigly" often during his presidential campaign, including in at lease three presidential debates.
