Amy Schumer Denies That She's a Joke Thief
The "Inside Amy Schumer" star is offering to take a polygraph test.
— -- Amy Schumer is looking to stop the rumor that she steals jokes.
The "Trainwreck" star was accused of taking gags from comedians Wendy Liebman, Patrice O'Neal, Kathleen Madigan, and Tammy Pescatelli and passing them off as her own.
Any similarity between her bits and theirs is purely coincidental, she told Jim Norton on his Sirius XM radio show.
"I would never, ever do that and I never have," she insisted. "I'm literally gonna take a polygraph test and put it on my show this season and I promise, whatever the results are, I won't let them cut [it]. I will show that I had never, never seen [those jokes]."
A video comparing the "Inside Amy Schumer" star's bits with the other comedians' recently surfaced online. One of the gags, involving a weight loss plan that revolves around someone slapping food out of dieters’ hands, was written by one of her “Inside Amy Schumer” colleagues, she said.
"I have to come up with so much material for my TV show, this movie ["Trainwreck"], stand-up [specials], and I'm so careful," she said. "None of these things had ever reached me... and I just would never do that. That would be so stupid for me to do that!"
