Amy Schumer Still Heartbroken by 'Trainwreck' Shooting
The actress addressed gun control at Glamour's "Women of the Year" awards.
— -- Amy Schumer is not slowing down on her crusade for gun control reform.
Schumer hosted Glamour's 25th annual “Women of the Year “awards show Monday night and, according to People magazine, the actress revealed that she is still heartbroken over the deadly shooting at a showing of her film "Trainwreck" earlier this year.
The comedian shared some of her personal views on gun control reform to the audience.
"If you've been convicted of domestic violence or you're severely mentally ill, I don't think you should be able to get a gun," Schumer, 34, said. "It seems pretty simple, but people's reaction is, 'She wants to take our guns.'"
Schumer became vocal about her views on gun control reform after a gunman opened fire at a Lafayette, Louisiana, movie theater showing of "Trainwreck" in August. The gunman fatally shot two women, and injured nine others before turning the gun on himself.
Since the deadly shooting, Schumer has been working with her cousin, U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., to campaign for gun control reform.
