Amy Schumer Inspires Women With 'Girl You Don't Need Makeup' Sketch
"We are sisters and fighters and laughers and happy strong women," she wrote.
-- Amy Schumer has always been an outspoken feminist. But last night, she encouraged other women to follow suit.
In a segment from her Comedy Central show, "Inside Amy Schumer," the comedian spoofed songs aimed to make women feel comfortable going without makeup, which prompted fans to Tweet barefaced selfies with the hashtag, #girlyoudontneedmakeup.
"I have been brought to tears with all the strong, badass, incredible women tonight. In jungles, jumping out of planes, holding their babies and mothers hands. All the strong lovely men who tweeted too. We are all different and beautiful. Let's waste no time stressin bout looks," Schumer tweeted after reposting many of the pictures. "We are sisters and fighters and laughers and happy strong women. Smile at yourself in the mirror girl. #girlyoudontneedmakeup much love!"
In the show, Schumer appeared in a music video for a pretend band singing a song that sounded strikingly similar to One Direction's "You Don't Know You're Beautiful." After telling Schumer to take off her cosmetics, they call her "the ghost from 'The Ring,'" and tell her to look more feminine.
"Just get up an hour earlier and you can make yourself much girlier," they croon.
