Amy Schumer Opens Up to Barbara Walters About Father's MS Battle

Comedienne is one of Barbara Walters' 'Most Fascinating People of 2015.'

“He’s not good,” Schumer told Walters in an interview for the ABC News special, “Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2015.”

“Some days he’s really good and he’s with it and we’re joking around,” she continued. “And some days I go to visit my dad and it’s so painful. I can’t believe it.”

Schumer was 12 years old when her father was diagnosed with MS and her parents divorced a few years later. Her father’s illness has taken a toll on her over the years.

“In terms of my dad being sick, it was just confusing to me, especially the way MS works,” Schumer told Walters. “He was in physical pain. That’s when I kind of took the lead and took care of everybody in my family. I would keep them -- I would keep everybody laughing.”

Even still, Schumer said, “I’m the one who ties it all together.”
