Amy Schumer Teams Up Again With Sen. Chuck Schumer to Urge Gun Control
Comedian introduced a new hashtag to get the public to urge lawmakers to act.
-- Amy Schumer and her cousin Sen. Chuck Schumer have teamed up again for what they are calling a "crusade on guns."
"Schumer & Schumer" -- as the cousins have dubbed themselves -- made an appearance at New York's City Hall Sunday calling for lawmakers to vote on a gun control bill recently sponsored by the New York Democrat.
The two first teamed up in August, days after a gunman fatally shot two women before turning the gun on himself in the Lafayette, Louisiana, theater showing Amy Schumer's movie "Trainwreck."
"On Thursday, July 23rd, a man sat down for my movie, "Trainwreck." I don't know why he picked my movie," the comedian said Sunday. "It is something I live with every day."
The star and her cousin are enlisting the public's help in forcing legislators to vote on Sen. Schumer's proposed bill, which would strengthen background checks and stop trafficking of weapons across state lines, among other things.
Introducing the hashtag #AimingForChange, they are asking Americans to speak out on social media, as well as call, write and march to stop gun violence.
