Ariel Winter Fights Back Against 'Body Shamers': 'Get a Hobby'
The "Modern Family" actress told them to "get a hobby."
-- Ariel Winter is on a campaign to #stoptheshaming.
After the actress, best known for her role as the witty middle sister on ABC's hit comedy "Modern Family," posted a photo of herself at her high school graduation party wearing a body-hugging pale pink dress, many critics wondered if the getup was too risque for the starlet.
Winter, 18, doesn't seem to think so and she took to Twitter to sound off.
"Dear sorry body-shamers, I looked HOT in that dress," she wrote Wednesday. "And if you hate it, don't buy it. But please get a hobby. XOXO Ariel #EmbraceYourBody."
"Embrace all that you are. Don't let those outside voices become your inner voice #mychoice #loveyourcurves," she later added. "Know your value. Remember who you are. Love yourself. You're perfect #stoptheshaming."
Winter has been open about how comments on her curvy body affect her.
In an interview on “Good Morning America” back in March, the actress said, "Walking down the red carpet and seeing the photos afterward and having every headline be about my cleavage and -- not about my talent. ...And I thought that was really disappointing that everybody nowadays in the media, what we're talking about is the way people look.
"And it's really hard, because people don't think that I read comments," she continued. "And I guess it maybe seems like we don't have feelings or we're, like, invincible, but we're really not."
