Avril Lavigne announces new album after 'long recovery' from Lyme disease
"It's been a long recovery," the singer said.
-- Avril Lavigne is finally getting her "happy ending."
The Canadian singer took to Twitter to announce she's releasing new music after a battle with Lyme disease.
"To my fans, I just want to thank everyone for their patience as I work on putting together this new album," she wrote on Twitter Thursday night. "It’s been a long recovery and I want to make sure that this is perfect for you guys!!"
"You only deserve my best effort and that’s what I’m going to deliver!" Lavigne, 32, added. "I can’t wait to share the new music I’m working on, I promise it’ll be here before you know it!! Love you, Avril."
The singer initially teased her sixth studio album back in December 2016. Lavigne said then that her album would touch on her battle with Lyme disease.
"It hasn't just been a hard battle, but it's also been enlightening and will reflect in my new music, artistry, life and personally," she wrote on Twitter then.
The "Complicated" singer told ABC News back in 2015 that she initially experienced symptoms while on tour the year before. After seeing multiple specialists, Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme disease.
Lavigne told ABC News’ Jesse Palmer that year that she was "doing a lot better [and] seeing a lot of progress."
"I'm just really grateful to know that, like, I will make [a] 100 percent recovery," she added at the time.
