'Bachelor' Ben Higgins on What to Expect in Drama-Filled Season 20

— -- "The Bachelor" fans have just a few more hours to wait until Season 20 premieres with Ben Higgins tonight, aka Ben H, who finished third in the most recent season of “The Bachelorette.” He was a fan favorite on the Internet and the audience is very excited to watch him start handing out the roses.

This morning on “Good Morning America” he explained that it took a bit of time before he officially agreed to come back as “The Bachelor.”

“I think it was a lot to consider,” Higgins, 26, said. “When they asked initially I think I just wanted to process everything to make sure it was the right decision for me, and ultimately it was. It definitely was.”

He has no regrets now, adding that “the last year has been a little crazy. It’s definitely changed life a lot. I would never take it back.”

And in typical “Bachelor” fashion, fans can expect plenty of twists and turns in this highly-anticipated upcoming season.

“I think any time you get a group of people in a house together dating one person, I think things will happen,” Higgins explained. “It’s life and how people interact with each other. Every season’s going to be different. So this season is definitely different than previous ones.”

He said that being in the driver’s seat of the show is definitely a new experience, and one he’s enjoyed.

“I think being the lead is definitely different than being a cast member,” he said. “You know you’re not going home. You know you’re going to be around. And also I wanted to make sure all these women knew I appreciated them being there, because I did, and that’s kind of my responsibility to take.”

Higgins has no regrets from Season 20 and is ready for the audience to join him on his journey for love.

“When I signed up for it I knew my life was going to be on display. And I think that the women that came on knew their lives were going to be on display,” he said. “So you just kind of roll with it. People are going to laugh and maybe cry with me, and I’ll be embarrassed at times. Probably see me kissing sometimes.”

A few bachelors from years past joined Higgins to give him guidance and advice.

“I really respect Sean Lowe, and then Chris Soules and Jason Mesnick came on as well,” said Higgins. “They know what the experience is like, so they came on to give me a little advice. The advice was to be true to myself. Don’t worry so much about what people will think when they watch it, but just be true to yourself and to the experience because ultimately this is about myself and the women and if this is really going to work, we have to be who we are.”

The season premiere of "The Bachelor" starts tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
