'Bachelor' Jason Mesnick Pops the Question

Mesnick, who famously had a change of heart after the show, proposes again.

Oct. 21, 2009— -- This time, Jason Mesnick's certain he's found the girl of his dreams.

The "Bachelor" star who infamously had a change of heart after the show's finale earlier this year proposed to Molly Malaney last night during a week-long trip to New Zealand, according to People magazine.

During the season-ending episode of "Bachelor," Mesnick proposed to Melissa Rycroft and sent Malaney packing. But afterwards, during the "After the Final Rose" special, he dropped a bombshell, dumping Rycroft on national television, saying he was in love with Malaney.

In July, on "Good Morning America," Mesnick said "things are going great" and he and Malaney would "absolutely someday" get married.

Over the summer, Mesnick and Malaney, a department store buyer from Milwaukee, were spotted on vacation together in the Turks and Caicos islands with Mesnick's son. While they weren't currently living together, she said she planned to move to his hometown of Seattle.

"We're very happy," Malaney said on "GMA." "We're doing the distance thing right now."

She also said "it's been great," getting to know Mesnick's son Ty. "We talk on the phone, we play together when I'm in town."

But don't feel bad for Rycroft. After Mesnick's stunning announcement, she went on to compete in the 8th season of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," finishing third. And last month, she returned home to Texas for her first bridal shower.

Rycroft and fiance Tye Strickland are set to wed at the end of the year. In September, she and her friends celebrated the impending nuptials.

"I had a crazy weekend," Rycroft said on "GMA," where she serves as a special correspondent. "I came home and had my first shower. It was country-themed."

Rycroft, 26, announced her engagement live on "GMA" June 30.

"Sometimes, the stars align," Rycroft said at the time, "and the clouds part and everything works out the way it should."

'The Bachelor': A History of Changed Minds

The drama that unfolded around Rycroft on "The Bachelor" wasn't new. Mesnick appeared on "The Bachelorette" during the 2008 season as a contestant vying for the attentions of bachelorette DeAnna Pappas. He made it to the final two.

Pappas would later claim that she, too, had made a mistake in choosing professional snowboarder Jesse Csincsak over Mesnick during the season four finale.

And, during the 2007 season of "The Bachelor," Brad Womack didn't choose either of his two finalists during his final rose ceremony.

Indeed, in all the incarnations of the popular show, only one couple has made it down the aisle. Trista Rehn, who came in second on the first season of "The Bachelor" and was the original "Bachelorette," married her pick, Ryan Sutter.

Today, the couple has two children.
