Benedict Cumberbatch's Doppelganger Is a 16-Year-Old Teen Named Tyler Michell

Tyler Michell has over 170,000 Instagram followers.

Tyler Michell, 16, says fans console him on the street for “losing” to “Theory of Everything” star Eddie Redmayne and are constantly stopping him to ask for photos and his autograph.

“It started out as a joke - my close friends and family would tease me and say I looked like Benedict Cumberbatch,” Michell said, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail. “Now people are messaging me and saying I should have won the Oscar.”

Michell says he realized his similarities to the 38-year-old British actor were more than just something his friends and family saw in him when he started picking up followers on social media.

Michell, who lives in Norwich in the U.K., now has over 17,000 followers on Instagram and over 5,000 followers on Facebook.

Earlier this week the teen posted the Daily Mail article about him on Instagram, where it received nearly 600 likes and dozens of comments.

“I DON’T KNOW WHO HE IS, I DON’T KNOW WHERE HE LIVES BUT I WILL FIND HIM AND I WILL MARRY HIM,” wrote on Instagram user.

Another user tagged a friend and wrote, “Now that the real one got married, you can marry his look alike.”

Cumberbatch, also the star of “Sherlock,” announced in January that he is expecting a baby with his fiancé, Sophie Hunter. Cumberbatch quietly announced his engagement to Hunter, 36, late last year by placing an eight-line notice in the births, deaths and marriages column of The Times of London newspaper.

Neither Cumberbatch’s romantic attachment nor his Oscar loss have dissuaded people’s interest in Michell, according to the teenager.

“Even though he lost, it hasn't stopped the attention I get,” Michell said, according to the Daily Mail. “I still get inundated with people messaging me on social media saying I look like him or that they love my work.'

"In honesty I don't really see the similarity," Michell said. "I'm a huge fan of Benedict, but I don't think I look like him."
