Spoilers, Spoilers, Spoilers
There's a lot to know about this show. And even if you haven't seen "Breaking Bad," you can still watch this show set in 2002 -- years before Bryan Cranston's masterful turn as Walter White.
Here are the biggest points to know:
1 - The show follows James "Jimmy" McGill in 2002 before he eventually became Saul Goodman, Walter White's attorney, according to the People magazine recap. The show opens with McGill as a common hustler who has a sick brother. He is a lawyer, just not a very good one yet. He also has a past as "Slippin' Jimmy," someone who used to slip on patches of ice and con people out of money.
2 - There are a few tie-ins to "Breaking Bad." Before we learn about McGill, we see how Goodman turned out after "Breaking Bad," and yes, he is working at a Cinnabon, just like he said he would at the end of the Emmy-winning series.
3 - Mike Ehrmantraut's back! Jonathan Banks -- because it's a prequel -- is back. If you recall, he got killed by Walter White in "Breakig Bad." Before becoming the badass that you know and love, Mike is a parking attendant at the courthouse McGill works at.
4 - Signs of greatness -- McGill starts becoming the Saul we know after he hits two young con-men with his car. They try to squeeze him for $500, but he spots their game and lets them know he's not fooled. He later tries to recruit the two young men for a con he came up with.
5 - McGill has morals ... kind of. After getting a payoff check for $26,000 from McGill's brother's old firm, he rips it up and backs his brother, who probably deserves more than a few grand, more like a few million dollars. The head of his brother's firm is this guy Howard Hamlin, who could end up being the real villain in "Better Call Saul."
6 - McGill's brother Chuck. We find out his brother has a mental illness of some kind. He's afraid of all technology. He's also against cashing out of his firm, to save the jobs of all the employees. Thus, this brother might end up being Goodman's moral compass.
7 - Tuco's back! At the end of the show, McGill runs into Tuco Salamanca, the crazy drug runner from "Breaking Bad." This can't end well, but should be damn fun to watch!
