Bill Cosby Must Attend a Second Deposition for Judy Huth's Lawsuit
A judge ordered the comedian to sit for a second time with Huth's lawyer.
-- A California state judge today ordered Bill Cosby to give a second deposition in a civil lawsuit brought by Judy Huth.
Huth's attorney, Gloria Allred, asked the court to compel Cosby to do so just a few months after his first deposition, which took place in October.
This second deposition must take place before the end of February, in accordance with the judge's order. The reason for the second deposition was not clear.
"We are very happy that the judge has ordered Mr. Cosby to appear for a second deposition in our civil case on behalf of Judy Huth v. William H. Cosby," Allred, told ABC News in a statement. "This means that the court agreed with us and granted our motion to compel Mr. Cosby to appear for a second deposition."
In 2014, Huth claimed in a civil lawsuit that Cosby forced her to perform a sex act on him at the Playboy Mansion in 1974 when she was 15. A lawyer for Cosby at the time called her allegations “meritless and unsupported" and accused her of extortion. The lawyer no longer represents Cosby.
Cosby's attorneys also tried to block the initial deposition, but that was denied. They also failed to convince the court to compel Huth to give her deposition first.
Cosby's legal team has repeatedly denied the sexual allegations against him.
