Bindi Irwin Makes First Public Appearance With Boyfriend on 'Dancing With The Stars' Red Carpet
The "Dancing With The Stars" contestant described him as "amazing."
-- Love is in the air for Bindi Irwin as her longtime boyfriend, Chandler Powell, visits her in Los Angeles.
Irwin and Powell have been dating long-distance while the 17-year-old trains with partner Derek Hough for "Dancing With The Stars" in L.A., but the cute couple reunited over the weekend and walked the red carpet together for the first time on Monday night.
"It's awesome being here," Powell told Us Weekly Magazine. "Bindi is crushing it and I loved seeing the whole show! I loved seeing everyone dance. I expected her to do really well but she is exceeding my expectations! I am really proud of her."
Irwin told Us Weekly that Powell has been helping tend to her ankle injuries during his visit.
"He's so cute," Irwin said. "Every night I come home and he's like, 'Here's what we're going to do: you're going to sit down here, put this ice on it...' And it's so cold I'm going, 'No! Get it off, get it off!' He's like, 'No, you have to have it 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. And then I'll make you a hot cup of tea and I'll hug you, so the rest of you will be warm, just not your foot!'"
Over the weekend, Irwin shared a photo of her and her beau on Instagram, thanking Powell for being "amazing."
"Thank you for always making me laugh, helping me to ice my foot when it hurts, making me tea and hugging me when I'm tired," the Australian wildlife conservationist wrote.
According to Us Weekly, Irwin and Powell met in Nov 2013. Powell, 18, is an American wakeboarder and a global ambassador for Irwin's Wildlife Warriors Team.
While Irwin has been in Los Angeles training for "Dancing With The Stars," Powell has been supporting her from afar, posting photos on his Instagram account every week to urge his followers to "vote for Bindi."
He even declared himself her biggest fan.
Irwin gushed about Powell on the red carpet saying, "He's really sweet. I'm really really lucky, and my family is so supportive."
