'Blood Clots' Cause Tamar Braxton to Quit 'Dancing With the Stars'
Braxton opened up about having to leave the show.
-- Tamar Braxton announced on Instagram she's being forced to quit not only "Dancing With the Stars," but also her current tour, both over the medical issue that kept her off the dance floor for part of Monday night's show.
"With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem. [musician KEM]," she captioned a hospital bed picture, with her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy sitting at her side.
"After yesterday's final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital...only to find out that I don't have pneumonia but something way more serious...blood clots in both sides of my lungs," Braxton posted. "As you all know I will be the first to always encourage anyone to push through any obstacle that comes along one's way. But in this case, my health is my current obstacle."
Tamar encouraged her fans by stating, "...in TRUE #tamartian form I must go about this the exact same way as I would anything else. I woke up to a mirror and saw myself this morning and that makes me the winner because that almost wasn't the case."
Braxton thanked her fans for their support and gave Chmerkovskiy a shout-out with, "...Big hugs and kisses to my boo @iamvalc for being beyond a friend, brother and the BEST partner EVER."
On Monday night's "Dancing With the Stars," the singer and co-host of the talk show "The Real" wasn’t present when the live show started because, it was explained, she had been taken to the hospital after falling ill earlier in the day. Judges had to watch and score her dress rehearsal for her first routine instead of a live performance. Braxton made it back to the studio with just minutes to spare before the start of her second routine and was able to perform it live, ending the night with the second-lowest score of the evening.
