Bobby Brown Granted Co-Guardianship of Bobbi Kristina
Court-appointed attorney responsible for her assets.
-- Bobby Brown and Pat Houston will be co-guardians for Bobbi Kristina Brown.
Their attorneys said in a statement today that the singer and the sister-in-law of Bobbi Kristina's late mother, Whitney Houston, spent a day in court working out the agreement.
“We are delighted to inform the public that the court has appointed Bobby Brown and Pat Houston as co-guardians of Bobbi Kristina Brown (‘Krissi’),” read a statement issued by David Long-Daniels, counsel for Pat Houston and Cissy Houston, and Christopher Brown, an attorney for Bobby Brown. "Both Mr. Brown and Ms. Houston are jointly responsible for decisions related to Krissi’s care and medical needs."
A court-appointed attorney, Bedelia Hargrove, will act as a conservator for the 22-year-old. Hargrove, according to her law firm bio, "specializes in fiduciary litigation, probate and estate administration, estate planning, personal injury and wrongful death cases, as well as general civil litigation."
"Ms. Hargrove is responsible for Krissi’s assets, including her likeness, rights and legal claims,” the statement read. “Both parties are delighted with the court’s decision and are working harmoniously to ensure Krissi receives the best possible medical care. We are appreciative of the manner in which Judge Jeryl Debra Rosh handled this matter."
Rosh, a judge for the probate court of DeKalb County in Georgia, confirmed in paperwork from April 24 that Brown's guardianship petition had been received.
"A petition for guardianship has been filed and received by this office," read the document, which was obtained by ABC News. "No further information is available on this subject at this time."
Bobbi Kristina, 22, was hospitalized in January after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub in her Georgia home. In March, she was moved to a rehab facility nearby, and last month, her maternal grandmother, Cissy Houston, said that she had "irreversible brain damage."
"Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me," she said at the time. "We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers."
However, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, Brown's wife, said that the singer has been "encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made."
"She has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes, and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard," Etheredge-Brown said in late April. "We will hold on to all the blessings God gives us to help her at this time."
