Caitlyn Jenner Clarifies Political Stance: 'I Never Said That I Endorsed Ted Cruz'

"I said I like him," Jenner said.

"I never said that I endorsed Ted Cruz," Jenner said. "I said I like him. He is a constitutionalist, and I think we have to get our country back to something like that."

Jenner, 66, had previously stated in an interview with The Advocate that as a conservative Republican, she likes Ted Cruz for her party's nomination, and suggested that she be his "trans ambassador" to help advise him on transgender issues.

“Yes, trans ambassador to the president of the United States, so we can say, ‘Ted, love what you’re doing but here’s what’s going on,'” Jenner said.

In both interviews, Jenner stated that she liked Cruz specifically because of his "views to fix the country," but acknowledged that the Texas senator's stance on the LGBT community is particularity negative, which is something she can't ignore.

"Now, out of all the candidates, I also feel that as far as the LGBT community, [Cruz] would probably be the worst and need the most help," Jenner said. "If that is the case ... I would be at his front door. Have they contacted me? No – which, yeah, I was kind of surprised," she continued.

Jenner used the hashtags "Learning from my girls" and "willing to listen," to caption the photo.
