Celebrities React to Prince's Death on Social Media
A death investigation is underway at the singer's Paisley Park estate.
— -- "Purple Rain" singer Prince died today at age 57, and tributes to the singer have been pouring in ever since.
Chief among them was Aretha Franklin, who told ABC News: "It was just a blow -- a real blow.... He had longevity in the industry simply because he was a natural and he had 'it'. What they call 'it' in the business.
She added: "He's gone, but his music will live on forever."
For his part, President Barack Obama released a statement saying the world lost a "creative icon."
"Michelle and I join millions of fans from around the world in mourning the sudden death of Prince," the president said. "Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent. As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all. Funk. R&B. Rock and roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader, and an electrifying performer."
