The Art of the Unfollow: Celebrity Couples Who Used Twitter to Break Up

Joe Jonas isn't the first celeb to unfollow his ex on Twitter after splitting.

— -- Victoria Secret model Gigi Hadid has seemingly moved on from ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas. But the singer isn't too happy that she's now being linked to former One Direction member Zayn Malik. Not only did he unfollow Hadid, whom he dated for six months, on Twitter, he also deleted a picture that he took with Malik back in June, while the two stopped by the Valentino show during Paris Fashion Week.

If you think Jonas is being petty, think again. He's not the first celebrity to unfollow their ex on Twitter or delete pics from Instagram. Below are some of our favorite former couples whose flames died out with a click of a button.

When actor Russell Brand filed for divorce in December 2012 after 14 months of marriage, Katy Perry unfollowed Brand and tweeted a message to her fans. "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again," the "Fireworks" singer wrote to her millions of followers. Perry added in a later tweet that she took to the social media network because she didn't want anyone to speak on her behalf, regarding rumors around their sudden split.

Emmy Award-nominated actress Demi Moore was left in a tight spot on Twitter after her split from Ashton Kutcher in November 2011. Her handle was @mrskutcher. She even tweeted to her then-4.3 million Twitter followers that changing the handle wasn't a "top priority right now." About six months later and after getting suggestions from fans, Moore eventually emerged back on the social network using the handle, @justdemi. The actress wrote at the time, "So hard finding a name that was fun somewhat playful and available. So for now it will be @justdemi It could grow on me!"
