Celine Dion Cancels Shows Following Husband Rene Angélil's Death
She shared the message with a "heavy" heart.
-- Following the death of her husband René Angélil on Thursday, global superstar Celine Dion has cancelled a few of her Las Vegas shows.
"With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you that Celine performances Saturday, Jan. 16 and Sunday, Jan. 17 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace have been cancelled," a statement on Dion's official website read.
The message continued, "Celine earlier today announced the death of her husband Rene Angelil after a long fight with cancer. The couple had celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary last month."
Dion will return to The Colosseum on Feb. 23.
Angélil died Thursday after a long battle with throat cancer. He was 73. Dion and Angélil had been married since 1994. They have three sons.
Dion, 47, took some time off in 2014 to care for her husband, but returned to the stage last year.
