Charice Explains, 'My Soul Is Like, Male'
The singer from the Philippines opens up about her sexuality.
-- Singer Charice Pempengco announced last year that she's gay.
Now, she's opening up about it to Oprah, who discovered the star six years ago.
"I knew when I was 5. I was in grade school and I saw this girl, and I felt different. I didn't know what it was, but I just knew that time, it felt special," she said during an "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" special, airing on Sunday. "When I was 10, I was like, 'Oh, that's it; I'm gay.'" I found the word."
Since coming out, Pempengco, 22, has been dressing in more masculine clothing and wearing her hair short. The former "Glee" actress said that's intentional.
"Basically my soul is, like, male but i'm not gonna go through that stage where I'm gonna change everything," she said. "[I'm not going to] change my body. I would change like this, cut my hair and wear boy clothes and everything but that's all."
