Chelsea Handler Reveals Why She's Not 'The Marrying Kind'
The talk show host also said that motherhood is "not a good use of my time."
March 12, 2014 -- Chelsea Handler isn't married, nor does she intend to be.
The E! talk show host, 39, said that when she was 9 years old, her father said that she wasn't the "marrying kind," and she took it as a "huge compliment." Now, marriage isn't something she spends a lot of time pondering.
Chelsea Handler: 'I'm Not Racist. I Date a Lot of Black People'
"Now I'm just like, the person that's not getting married so I like it and I think it's a good example to not have that be part of your identity," she said in an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow. "The truth of the matter is, I don't really know how to balance a relationship and my life. I've never been able to really do that."
Calling romantic relationships "a distraction," Handler explained that she's "a better, happier human being" when she can focus entirely on her friends, family and her job. Also, she said, despite past dalliances with the likes of 50 Cent and hotelier André Balazs, she hasn't met her "soulmate" yet.

"I love men. I have men around all the time, I'm not an idiot, but you have to have somebody that brings out the best in you and I've never met somebody that really brings out the best in me," she explained. "And I want to bring out the best in them. You don't want it to be a one-way street."
Though she certainly seemed open to the possibility, she was less enthusiastic about the concept of motherhood, saying "that wouldn't be nice to the child."
"I'm a great aunt. I don't mind kids," she clarified. "[But] I don't want one. ... It's not a good use of my time."
