The singer was in jail for violating his probation on another charge.
April 3, 2014 -- Troubled pop star Chris Brown is expected to be escorted later today by federal marshals to Washington, D.C., to face a misdemeanor assault charge, KABC reported.
Last October, Brown, 24, and his bodyguard were accused of assaulting a man in the wee hours of the morning outside of a local nightclub.
According to a police report, Brown hurled a homophobic slur at a man before saying, "I feel like boxing," and punching him.

Brown is currently in jail in Los Angeles for violating his probation stemming from another assault charge in 2009 against singer Rihanna, his then-girlfriend.
The Grammy Award winner had been staying in a Malibu, Calif., rehab facility for several weeks as part of his probation for the 2009 charge. His ejection from the facility was considered a probation violation.
In mid-March, Brown was ordered to stay in jail for at least a month. A California judge also set no bail.
