Chris Martin Explains Why Gwyneth Paltrow Is Featured on Coldplay's New Album

Beyoncé and Blue Ivy make appearances too.

Paltrow is featured on the song "Everglow," which the newspaper described as "a ballad about a relationship's enduring spark."

"A Head Full of Dreams" also features vocals from Martin and Paltrow's two kids, plus contributions from Noel Gallagher, electronic music DJ Avicii, and Beyoncé. Blue Ivy, Beyoncé's daughter, also appears on the album, as does Martin's new girlfriend, Annabelle Wallis.

"Everyone who got asked to sing on our album has an important part in our lives," he explained. "Inclusiveness is the key thing."

In the interview, Martin was also asked whether "conscious uncoupling," the phrase used when Paltrow first announced the couple's separation, would make for a good lyric.

"I don't know. I didn't invent that phrase, but I love it," he replied. "Everything's a good lyric if you have the right beat."

"A Head Full of Dreams," Coldplay's seventh and possibly final album, will be released Dec. 4.
