Chrissy Teigen Tells Baby Bump Critics, 'Get Out of My Uterus'
The model faced a backlash after she posted a pic of her pregnant belly.
-- Model and “FABLife” co-host Chrissy Teigen has responded to online commenters who questioned the size of her budding baby bump by telling them to “get out of my uterus.”
The unexpected uproar started after Teigen, 29, posted a photo on Instagram of her pregnant stomach with the caption, “Somebody is early to the party.”
Teigen and her husband, John Legend, announced last week that they are expecting their first child but have not publicly shared a due date.
Among the thousands of congratulatory comments on Teigen’s Instagram picture were a barrage of body-shaming comments about the size of Teigen’s bump.
“You got big fast,” one commenter wrote, adding, “My bestie is due in Feb and she’s ½ your size. Not twins? Probably triplets!”
Teigen, who has spoken publicly about the couple’s struggle to conceive, took to Twitter to defend herself, issuing a series of tweets.
“I did IVF. One at a time. It isn’t twins. I can see the d*** thing. Get out of my uterus,” Teigen wrote, in addition to at at least one direct reply to a commenter.
The model also wrote that the scrutiny surrounding the photo may have turned her off from sharing the remainder of her pregnancy.
ABC News' senior medical contributor Dr. Jennifer Ashton, a practicing obstetrician-gynecologist, says assessing a pregnant woman based solely on her visual appearance is "one of the worst things people can do as a society."
"There is a multitude of factors that goes in to how she appears in her pregnancy and, at the end of the day, it's nobody's business other than hers and her doctor's," Ashton said.
