Country star Jason Aldean welcomes newborn after Las Vegas massacre: It's 'been been a rollercoaster ride'
Jason Aldean and his wife Brittany welcomed their first child together Friday.
-- Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany, are now parents to their first child together -- a son named Memphis born Friday, the singer announced.
It's welcome news for the country music star who was performing onstage at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas when a gunman opened fire back in October, killing 58 people and injuring nearly 500 others.
Aldean, 40, announced the news on his social media accounts Friday by posting a picture of his wife holding their newborn.
A caption read, "So blessed today to see my little man come into the world. In a year that has been a rollercoaster ride, this is what its all about. I cant wait to see what life has in store for this kid. Memphis Aldean... 9lb 5 oz. #mamawasarockstar"
In a separate post on Instagram, Brittany Aldean, 29, said, "There are truly no words for the love we feel. Thanks for the amazing support @jasonaldean and enduring all the hand squeezing and nail digging ... HANDS DOWN THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!"
Brittany Aldean, who wed the country singer back in March 2015, announced that she was pregnant in May. Jason Aldean also has two daughters from a previous relationship.
The country singer explained last summer why they decided to pick a unique name for their son.
"Both of us have names that are pretty common, Jason and Brittany, so, something that’s unique is our main goal," he told Entertainment Tonight of choosing the name Memphis.
