Courteney Cox Says Brad Pitt Divorce 'Not About' Aniston
"I feel like we’re exacerbating it by even talking about it," she said.
-- Jennifer Aniston's former "Friends" co-star Courteney Cox is the latest to speak up about the internet's obsession with Aniston and her former husband, Brad Pitt.
Last week, Angelia Jolie, 41, filed for divorce from Pitt and the Aniston jokes quickly took over social media, but the actress has remained silent about her ex and Jolie. Aniston, 47, and Pitt, 52, were married from 2000 to 2005.
“It’s not about her,” Cox, 52, told Entertainment Tonight. "I feel like we’re exacerbating it by even talking about it."
The comments from one of Aniston's close friends echo that of her current husband, Justin Theroux, who told Business Insider in an interview that it was "nonsense" to focus on his wife in the context of Pitt's and Jolie's divorce.
"There's an endless appetite for trash, apparently, though everyone would say that they don't have that appetite," Theroux told the site about his wife being dragged into the trending news. "There are bigger things to b---- about. It's shocking how much bandwidth things can take up when there are far more important things going on in the world."
Theroux, 45, also took the time to focus on Pitt's and Jolie's six kids.
"As a child of divorce, all I can say is that's terrible news for those children, and that's all you can really say. It's boring to sort of comment on anything else. People are having a bad time — that's horrible," he said.
Jolie filed for divorce on Sept. 19 and is requesting physical custody of the children.
