Finally, there's an answer: 31-year-old comedian Trevor Noah.

Many people in the United States are unfamiliar with him, so here are a few things to know about the man stepping into Stewart's shoes:

2. He's a newcomer to the show: Noah joined "The Daily Show" this past December and has appeared in two episodes this year.

3. He didn't try out for the new role: According to The New York Times, Noah didn't audition for the host role. Instead, the decision was made by the network with Stewart's guidance. “I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor,” Stewart told the newspaper in a statement. “He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with.” Mr. Stewart added that he “may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!!!”
