'Dancing With the Stars' Season 12: Petra Nemcova Eliminated
Petra Nemcova was voted off 'Dancing With the Stars' season 12.
April 20, 2011— -- After topping the leader board just two weeks ago, supermodel Petra Nemcova was the latest celebrity to get eliminated from "Dancing With the Stars."
"Before starting the show…I danced like an elephant," Nemcova joked today on "Good Morning America." "My sister was laughing at me dancing….Now, hopefully she is a little bit more proud of me being able to take a few steps."
Despite being eliminated, the Czech supermodel was proud that she broke the "supermodel curse," lasting longer than any other supermodel contestant to have danced in the show's history.
"Thanks to Dmitry really because he made it possible," said Nemcova, thanking her professional partner Dmitry Chaplin for his teaching and support.
In an unpredictable season, Nemcova placed all over the leader board. Two weeks ago, she earned high marks and accolades from judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli for an emotional waltz that honored survivors of the 2004 Thailand tsunami.
"It was very deep to me," said Nemcova, who suffered a broken pelvis and severe internal injuries but survived the devastating tsunami. "Everything was so special and the story was really about raising up from sadness to strength."
Nemcova founded the "Happy Hearts Fund," an organization dedicated to improving children's lives through education and sustainable programs in natural disaster areas in 2006.
"Now there's a next chapter for me rebuilding schools," she said, adding that she accomplished what she set out to do on the show -- "to dance with purpose" and "raise awareness about children who are forgotten after natural disasters."
After the dance with the tsunami storyline, the duo slipped to the middle of the pack for their paso doble and finally landed at the bottom for Monday night's quick step to Elvis' "Viva Las Vegas."
'Dancing With the Stars' Season 12: Red, White and Blue Week
This week on "Dancing With the Stars" each dance was infused with red, white and blue music and flair and each dance paid tribute to America. Hines Ward stole the show with his rumba to "I Am Proud to Be an American," earning the highest score of the night of a 27 from judges.
Even as she danced the show's 1,000th competitive dance, Kendra Wilkinson couldn't overcome her issues with elegance, receiving only a 22 from judges for her fox trot to "Yankee Doodle Dandy."
Ralph Macchio and partner Karina Smirnoff also landed at the bottom of the leader board, narrowly escaping elimination for their samba to "Sweet Home Alabama."
Seven couples remain in the competition. "Dancing With the Stars" airs Monday night on ABC.
