'The Danish Girl' Trailer Hits, See Eddie Redmayne as Lili Elbe
Elbe was one of the first to undergo gender-reassignment surgery.

In the film, which is based on a true story, Eddie Redmyane plays Lili Elbe, one of the first to undergo gender-reassignment surgery in 1930.
At the start of the trailer, we meet Einar Wegener, an artist, whose wife, also a painter, asked him to stand in for a female model.
"We're gonna call you Lili!" a friend proclaimed.
As time goes on, however, Wegener sensed a shift. He explained to his wife that he feels more authentic as Lili than as Einar.
"I believe that I am as a woman," he told her.
"I believe it too," she responded.
