What's Next for DC Heroes After 'Suicide Squad'
There's a slew of shows and movies yet to come.
-- Despite the negative reviews for "Suicide Squad" and "Batman v Superman," there's a slew of projects coming later this year and next inspired by DC Comics superheroes.
First, we have blockbuster films like "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League" set for release in 2017. "Wonder Woman" is directed by Patty Jenkins from "Monster" fame, and the reviews of Gal Gadot's work in "Dawn of Justice" have been mostly favorable.
So, if fans were not happy with "Squad," they at least have Diana Prince's story to look forward to.
Aside from films, DC heroes have taken over the CW network, much like Marvel has with Netflix. "Supergirl," "The Flash" and "Arrow" all have a die-hard followings and some of the best young acting talent in the biz.
First, we have "Supergirl" which will feature Superman in season 2, played by Tyler Hoechlin. Melissa Benoist has also been stellar as Kara Danvers, aka Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. The new season is out Oct. 10.
"The Flash" really has fans excited for Grant Gustin's Scarlet Speedster heading into season 3 on The CW.
Basically (minor spoilers) Barry Allen traveled back in time to save someone near and dear to his heart and this changes everything. It's based off a great storyline from the DC books. Tom Felton from "Harry Potter" joins the cast.
"The Flash" returns Oct. 4.
"Legends of Tomorrow" and "Arrow" are also back around the same time. "Legends" is set for Oct. 13, while "Arrow" season 5 is out a week earlier.
Stephen Amell, who plays the Green Arrow, is one of the network's innovators in the comic book game. He's been bringing it for half a decade and now gets exposure in possibly three other shows to the delight of fans. "Legends" is an "Arrow" spinoff of sorts and "The Flash" has been featured in previous "Arrow" seasons. Plus there's this!
