Diego Luna Says His Son 'Went Crazy' When He Found Out About His Dad's Role in 'Rogue One'
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" hits theaters Dec. 16.
-- Diego Luna is starring in the highly anticipated new "Star Wars" film, "Rogue One."
Luna, a father of two, stopped by "Good Morning America" today to discuss his role and his young son's love for the franchise.
"I have the most beautiful boy and girl, they're 8 and 6," Luna said. "Our whole [relationship] has changed since this news came out. He's a huge fan of 'Star Wars' and when I told him, he just went crazy. Work normally used to separate us. He hated my job. He was like, 'Where are you going? Are you crazy? You're going to leave me here?' But now he's like, '[D]ad, got to go!"
"They both went to set and it was beautiful...My son was looking at that going, 'This is paradise, finally. We're never going to go back home, right?'"
Like his son, Luna was a huge "Star Wars" fan growing up. He admitted that he was extremely excited to run into Darth Vader on set.
To prepare for his role as Captain Cassian Andor, Luna said he did military training.
"My character's a captain, an intelligence officer, so I had to do a lot of military training to understand how the mind of someone in the military works because I'm supposed to keep this team together through the mission," he explained.
He added: "It was a lot of fun. Just the physical training, to be able to do the stuff we made [in] this film...it's a 'Star Wars' film, you want to go for it, right?"
