The 'Doctor Strange' Spell Holds the Box Office With a $43 Million Weekend

— -- The Marvel Studios release "Doctor Strange," starring Benedict Cumberbatch, topped the box office for the second week in a row. This weekend, the film added $43 million in estimated earnings, bringing its domestic total up to more than $153 million.

It's the second-fastest of the studio's single-character intro features to reach that mark, behind 2008's "Iron Man," according to Box Office Mojo.

Coming in second at the U.S. box office was the animated musical "Trolls," with an estimated $35 million. The film, featuring the voices of Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick, has raked in $94 million, already surpassing "Storks" and closing in on "The Angry Birds Movie" after ten days.

Two new releases came next: "Arrival," starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forrest Whitaker, finished third with $24 million and "Almost Christmas," featuring Danny Glover, Gabrielle Union and Mo'Nique, took fourth place with $15.5 million.

"Hacksaw Ridge," starring Andrew Garfield, rounds out the top five with $10.77 million.
