'Duck Dynasty' Star Jep Robertson Reveals Past Sexual Abuse
"It was on a school bus. It was an older girl," he said.
-- "Duck Dynasty" star Jep Robertson is opening up about sexual abuse he says happened when he was just a child.
The reality star, 37, has written a book "The Good, the Bad, and the Grace of God: What Honesty and Pain Taught Us About Faith, Family, and Forgiveness," and decided to speak to "Entertainment Tonight" about claims in the book he was abused at the age of 6.
"It was on a school bus. It was an older girl," he said, not revealing her name. "There was this girl there that was just real mean. I think in the end, I think probably she was just terribly abused herself. But it was a lot of things took place and scary stuff. It was tough."
Robertson claimed he didn't tell anyone about what that girl did to him.
"I didn't want to go to school. I had a lot of absences," he told "ET," adding his mother always thought he was just sick.
Robertson added that it was his wife, Jessica, who helped him get through it by talking it out.
He added, "I was more embarrassed. ... It was just one of those things that happened, and I think it took me a long time to realize what had happened and how it affected me."
Robertson said he was afraid of girls after the incident. In the book, he also talks about his past experience with drugs and alcohol.
"By the end of my senior year that summer, I had really gone off the rails and every day I was using," he told "ET." "I was drinking, smoking any kind of drug you can think of. I pretty much tried them all. I was definitely down a bad road and about died one night."
After dropping to 120 pounds, he said an intervention helped him through.
The network that airs "Duck Dynasty," A&E, had no comment.
