Dustin Diamond to Appear in Court Today Following Arrest

"Saved by the Bell" star Dustin Diamond is due in court today.

Diamond, 37, best known as Screech Powers from the hit 1990's show, has been charged with reckless endangerment and carrying and using a dangerous weapon.

A TMZ video captured the moments leading up to the incident.

According to court documents, Diamond and his fiancee Amanda Schutz got into a scuffle with three people inside the bar.

Diamond told police that at the bar that "there was a group of intoxicated people being rude and insulting," according to the district attorney’s report obtained by ABC News.

After an altercation that his girlfriend had with another woman, Diamond told police that he saw her bleeding, and then he intervened. He said he did not intentionally stab the man at the bar, but "chaos broke out and people were grabbing at him," according to the district attorney’s report obtained by ABC News.

His representative confirmed to ABC News that Diamond was involved, but declined further comment.

Police say Diamond admitted to unintentionally stabbing one of the men under the arm to defend Schutz.

During questioning, Diamond also went back and forth, stating that he was either holding a knife or a pen during the altercation, police added.

Authorities also spoke with witnesses, the victim and a bartender at the bar, police said. The victim, who told police he never saw the knife, suffered wounds that were not life threatening, was treated and is currently recovering at home. Police observed a "significant amount of blood" under the victim's armpit, where he was stabbed.

Diamond appeared in court by video conference Friday and is being held on a $10,000 dollar bond.

Diamond's attorney told ABC News in a statement that his client, "Has absolute faith in our legal system. We are confident that the truth will ultimately prevail."

Schutz's parents defended Diamond's actions, saying he has a "gentle nature."

"Dustin has a gentle nature. He likes people to laugh," they said in an statement to ABC News through Diamond's attorney. "If he felt that Amanda was in danger, he would certainly protect her. Who wouldn't protect a loved one?"

“It's very negative,” Gosselaar said. “I remember it as a very positive experience.”
