Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Shares What to Expect From 'Fast 8'
The actor said Hobbs is back for the eighth "The Fast and The Furious" film.
-- Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is back in the driver's seat for "Fast 8," the next installment in "The Fast and the Furious" franchise.
The actor shared a photo of himself from the set Saturday as his character, federal agent Luke Hobbs. Johnson, who started filming last week, is sporting a leather jacket, tank top and a very long goatee.
In the caption, Johnson detailed what fans can expect when "Fast 8" hits theaters on April 14, 2017.
"When you strip a man of all he has. All that's important to him. You force him to return to his roots. and sometimes that's a very dangerous and twisted place," he began.
"If I was going to return for another 'FAST & FURIOUS' I wanted to come in and disrupt the franchise in a cool way that got fans fired up and their blood pumping to see a new version of Hobbs and his 'Daddy's gotta go to work' mentality and set the table in a cool way for where the character goes in the future," Johnson added.
The actor said perhaps his character will go on to get his own spin-off film, or "maybe it's more #FF movies," he said.
"Or hell, maybe Hobbs just gets on his motorcycle and rides off into the sunset never to be seen again," Johnson said.
Johnson ended his caption, saying that he "had a solid first week of shooting" with his "ohana," which means family in Hawaiian culture.
He added that "you guys around the world will really dig this new version of the role, 'cause as we always say, disrupters dent the universe."
Johnson, 44, first appeared in "The Fast and the Furious" franchise in 2011's "Fast Five." He has since starred in "Fast & Furious 6" and "Furious 7."
