Emile Hirsch Poses for Mug Shot in Assault Case
Actor made his first court appearance since being charged with assault.
— -- Actor Emile Hirsch put his movie star looks on display while posing for a mug shot after his court appearance on assault charges in Park City, Utah.
The "Lone Survivor" star made his first appearance in court Monday on allegations that he choked a female studio executive and dragged her across a table at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
The 30-year-old actor turned up clean-shaven, in a black suit, white shirt and black tie. After a brief appearance in which his attorney Neil Kaplan said Hirsch is receiving counseling after a stint in rehab, the actor was instructed to walk next door to the sheriff's office to have his mug shot taken.
Hirsch is charged with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony and intoxication, a class C misdemeanor, the Summit County Prosecutor Ryan Stack told ABC News in February. He is facing up to five years in the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine.
According to a document filed with Utah's Third District Court last month, Hirsch is accused of grabbing Daniele Bernfeld, an executive with Paramount's Insurge Pictures, and putting her in a chokehold.
He then "pulled Bernfeld across the table and onto the floor, where he landed on top of her," the document said.
Bernfeld told investigators she may have momentarily blacked out after Hirsch "wrapped his hands around her neck," according to the court filing. Two people at the club pulled the actor off Bernfeld, the document added.
After the incident, Hirsch checked himself into an alcohol rehabilitation facility, his spokesman, Robert Offer, told ABC News.
"Emile takes these allegations very seriously, and is devastated that any of this has occurred," Offer said in the statement at the time.
Hirsch did not enter a plea Monday and his next court appearance is scheduled for April.
