Halle Berry's Ex Eric Benet Proposes to Manuela Testolini
The singer and Prince's ex-wife have become engaged after three years of dating.
Jan 22, 2011 -- Musician Eric Benet, who spent six years as Mr. Halle Berry, has announced that he is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Manuela Testolini.
People magazine is reporting that Benet proposed to Testolini, who he has been dating for three years, in November with an antique diamond ring that the singer designed himself.
"During a romantic dinner I decided to finally let Manuela hear 'Never Want to Live Without You,' a song off my new album that I had written for her," Benet told People. "I sang it to her, then got down on one knee and proposed."
Testolini, who was married to musician Prince for five years until she filed a petition to end their marriage in 2006, is an entrepreneur and the founder of In A Perfect World, a charity that empowers children to become responsible leaders.
Benet, 44, is a Grammy-nominated musical artist who found his greatest success when he dueted with singer Tamia on "Spend My Life With You," which spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Benet's marriage to Oscar-winner Berry came to a very public end in 2003 after the singer reportedly cheated on her, and also has an 18-year-old daughter, India, from a previous marriage. His latest album "Lost in Time" peaked at No. 33 on the U.S. Billboard charts when it was released in November 2010.
The couple, who plan to wed in the summer, are currently celebrating their engagement in Egypt, according to People.
