'Fantastic Beasts' Film Series Expands to 5 Movies
"Harry Potter" fans, rejoice!
-- The "Harry Potter" spin-off series of films just got even more fantastic.
At a fan event for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" in London on Thursday, J.K. Rowling said that five films are now planned for the franchise. It was previously expected to be a trilogy.
The film's official Twitter account then announced the news on the social network. "@jk_rowling has just confirmed the magic continues in a total of FIVE MOVIES! We can't wait! #FantasticBeasts," one tweet read.
The "Harry Potter" author also confirmed on Twitter that she's the screenwriter for all of the prequels, adding that she's putting the "finishing touches to the second one."
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," opens Nov. 18 and stars Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a wizard who arrives in New York in the 1920s and loses some of his fantastic beasts.
The second film in the series is expected in theaters November 2018.
