'The Force Awakens' on Track to Become Highest-Grossing Film in US Box Office History

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" earned an estimated $88.3 million from Friday through Sunday, boosting its total to date to $740.3 million, according to Rentrak. It now ranks second on the all-time domestic box office list, having just eclipsed "Jurassic World," which took in $652.3 million and "Titanic," which made $658.7 million. "Avatar" holds the current U.S. box office record, with $760.5 million in ticket sales.

"The Force Awakens" has made $1.51 billion since its debut on Dec. 18. It opens in China on Tuesday.
