Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood Tease What to Expect at the 2016 CMA Awards

— -- As the Country Music Association prepares to celebrate a half century of its signature show in a couple weeks, you can bet it will be an evening you won’t soon forget.
On Sunday at the Medallion Ceremony at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Garth Brooks promised it won’t be your usual yearly installment of country music’s biggest awards show.
“Hats off to all the artists,” Brooks said. “I don't know if you guys know this, but all of the artists are pretty much saying the same thing. 'Hey, screw my current stuff, whoever we need to pay homage to, whoever we need to -- count us in!'"
So instead of hearing everyone’s latest hits and new singles, expect a heavy dose of classic hits through the years, along with the heritage artists who made them famous.
“You know, all the guys -- Jason [Aldean], Alan [Jackson], Keith [Urban] -- all the guys, all the girls are all doing past music from other artists,” he added.
“And we're excited about that because we have the opportunity to sing some of our favorite songs by some of our favorite artists ... ” Brooks' wife and duet partner, Trisha Yearwood, interjected. “I think it's gonna be a great CMA!”
The 50th Annual CMA Awards take place Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m. ET, when will air live on ABC. The show, which will take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.
