George Kennedy, Oscar-Winning 'Cool Hand Luke' Actor, Dies at 91

The actor also appeared in "The Naked Gun" franchise.

His grandson, Cory Schenkel, said on his Facebook page that his grandfather passed away Sunday morning.

Kennedy also appeared in all four installments of the '70s disaster film "Airport" -- he played chief mechanic Joe Patroni. In addition, he played Slade in yet another disaster film, 1975's "Earthquake." His other movies included "The Dirty Dozen," "The Sons of Katie Elder," "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" and "The Eiger Sanction." In the '80s, he starred in "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!" series of comedies.

According to Variety, Kennedy was married four times and is survived by his fourth wife, and two children from his relationship with his second wife.
